We have been busy in the garden! A new large patio awaits you with plenty of socially distanced seating for that al fresco chill out or quiet moment.
Everything has been trimmed, and made to look lovely for the Summer. We have a new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging point available for guests (small charge) which is very convenient. We have a newly fitted kitchen with state of the art hob and ovens and we continue to offer a "healthy" cooked breakfast with griddled eggs and air fried bacon and sausages - remaining as fat free as possible. In the summer subject to availability we have cherry vine tomatoes - in winter or when we can't get the quality we demand, we have delicious tinned cherry tomatoes which many guests like to seek out to purchase! We use award winning Bessies of York jams and marmalades and locally baked Cinnamon Twist breads. We are looking forwards to welcoming guests, old and new to our lovely home in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors region. We feel truly blessed to be able to live here and share it with you. WELCOME!

The Grange has been lucky to have had some fantastic guardians in the past. Steeped in history and with so many lovely features - a Well sits in the breakfast room (covered by strengthened glass of course), there is even the original Victorian bread oven in the kitchen area - a lovely non-working feature to retain.
We weren't looking for a guest house but fell in love with the charming house and location. Since we took over we are steadily making some minor improvements as the house is lovely as it is, so we were only ever going to enhance your stay and enable guests to make memories. One thing that the past year has taught us - time is precious, who you spend it with and how you share experiences is for us, what life is all about. We have a new multi fuel burner in the lounge ready to welcome guests in the autumn and keen walkers in the winter. We may even do some Christmas breaks - watch this space for more details! The garden has been trimmed and a space made ready for a new greenhouse as we enjoy growing our own organic fresh produce. The house is adorned with an eclectic art collection - we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Please come back and visit the news section - updates and anything interesting will be posted here. We will have a new facebook group soon too! We are looking forward to welcoming you soon The Wright family We have been awarded the Visit England 'We're Good to Go' industry standard, which demonstrates that we have taken the necessary steps to reopen in July.
Following today's announcement, that B&Bs will be among those businesses allowed to reopen from the 4th July, we are planning to start welcoming guests again from early next month. We are still waiting to see the full guidelines but will ensure that all Covid-19 measures are put in place. Initially we will only have the capacity to fulfil our existing bookings for July and August, but we have released some rooms for September and October (see our bookings calendar for availability). If any other rooms become available before September we will open them up to online booking. Thank you to all our guests who have kept their bookings with us for the last half of the summer and the autumn, Steve & Jacqui.
Here at The Grange we appreciate the upheaval that the Covid19 outbreak is causing to travel plans. Any guests who have stayed with us before will testify to our very high levels of cleanliness, which will be maintained and enhanced with regular disinfectant spraying of surfaces and handles, to ensure a safe and clean environment for our guests.
For the duration of the outbreak (until further notice) we are adopting a more flexible approach to our cancellation policy. For cancellations less than 28 days prior to the booking, where suspected or diagnosed Covid-19 has prevented travel, we will be allowing guests to transfer their booking to a later date at no extra charge. We hope this will allow guests to book in confidence, knowing that they will not lose their deposit through no fault of their own. Having achieved a Gold Award in the 2019 Yorkshire in Bloom Competition, Thornton-le-Dale has just received the fantastic news from the RHS that it has been selected to represent the whole of Yorkshire in the Large Village Category in the national Britain in Bloom competition for 2020. Congratulations to all the hard working volunteers in the Village Hub who keep our village looking so pretty.
We are celebrating our 100th Guest review since taking over The Grange three years ago. Thank you to all our great guests for their lovely comments (and 5 star ratings!)
Stage 3 of this year's Tour de Yorkshire cycle race passed The Grange on its way from Richmond to Scarborough. The race was again a huge success, with an estimated 2.6 million people lining the route over the 4 days. The Grange is an ideal base to try out the race cycle route or, if mountain biking is your thing, we are next to Dalby Forest. We have secure bike storage and washing facilities.
Our guests had a great weekend at the concerts in Dalby Forest - Rick Astley on Friday night and Elbow last night, when we joined them. Next year's concerts will be announced around Christmas, so book early if you would like to stay with us.
You can now check availability for The Grange and book online. We hope you like this new feature, but we also love to talk to our guests if you prefer to call us.
